LTC 2021: Hope (re)Imagined

Disciple Growing Track

Do you know what it means to be a discipler or mentor? Discipleship happens in the diversity of life’s relationships; to follow Jesus with others as you encourage, live, laugh and learn. We are called to be obedient to Christ- that is the only qualification one needs. Not just growing the mind and heart, but also a life lived out practically. It’s learning how to seek answers together asking the right questions, having humility to not always know all the answers, with a desire to be constantly humbled by the profound richness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will talk about all this and how it all works out practically on your campus.

Track Presenters

Betty Kang

graduated from UC Irvine in 2005 w/ her B.S in Applied Ecology with a minor in Epidemiology and Public Health and was active all 5 yrs in AACF serving in multiple roles as a student leader. Eventually she pursued grad school earning her Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2010, completing the Kaiser Permanente’s Orthopaedic Residency in 2014 and becoming a Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) in 2015 and a Board Certified Neurological Clinical Specialist (NCS) in 2020 as well as completing Kaiser’s Sports/Orthopaedic Manual Fellowship back in 2016. You can obviously tell how passionate she is about learning and growing as a Physical Therapist w/ serving our nation's heroes as she works at the VA in West Los Angeles. The Lord eventually opened the door for Betty to serve on staff as a volunteer campus minister for AACF UC Irvine back in 2012 in which she enjoys being able to minister, encourage/pray with and just plain share life-on-life w/ her students. She most recently also started volunteer staffing at AACF-CSULB as well starting in 2018 until now. During her free time, while chillin’ w/ her fellow AACF kiddoes, she enjoys taking advantage of her youthful looks by playing it off like she’s a 3rd year transfer student and messin’ with her college kids, but for reals though during her spare time Betty enjoys playing soccer, snowboarding, running, drinking coffee, and playing mindless games like Pokémon Go and Clash Royale.

Nicole Mori

graduated from CSUN in 2017 with a B.A. in Liberal Studies. During her college years she was not involved in any campus ministry at CSUN but longed for fellowship and friendships to be made on campus. Nicole has been serving as a volunteer campus minister with AACF CSUN since 2019 and loves building relationships and sharing life with the students. She is currently a stay at home mom and hopes to return to teaching preschoolers sometime in the future. Nicole also loves to cook and bake, park picnics dates with her fam, and has a love for Chick-fil-A.

Derrick Ching

is a Sacramento native who attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for his undergrad. He earned his BS in Industrial Engineering in 2015 and has been a campus minister at UC Irvine since 2017. He is currently works with the US Navy at the Naval Weapon Station Seal Beach.
